There are numerous works depicting this classic scene out there, and most of them emphasize detailed appearance of the Balrog (how that monster itself should look like), and some of them really do a good job.
But in your work, I see mostly how the it's flame should look like, and I think it's a very distinct but strong perspective.
Also, I can see that you treated the details of flames very carefully. The color, the light effect, and also the visual patterns of those blazes are demonstrated differently on the Balrog's side versus Gandalf's side. It looks like that you are telling the story in terms of a duel of fire will between these two characters: the flame of Udun versus the flame imperishable. Very clever.
